The other week, when I was eating my breakfast, I stumbled upon this video by She Cooks, She Eats on Youtube. And it made me think that, in a world where we are constantly being told to achieve and ‘do better’, we don’t celebrate ourselves enough. Be proud of your family, be proud of your friends, but heaven forbid that you should actually be proud of your own achievements- however minor they may be.
So last week, I decided to put together my own ‘Proud Of’ list, and thought it’d be nice to share it with you all…
As you can see, none of the items on this list are particularly big or amazing (although not getting beaten up at boxing was quite good). They’re just normal things that happen once in a while, but should be seen as a massive deal! I wholeheartedly encourage every one of you to try this for a week: however big or small, noting down your achievements is not only a huge confidence booster, but is also a positive display of loving yourself (or at least learning to), as well as those around you. I’m not sure if it was last week’s lovely weather, but I woke up in a good mood every single day (a rarity for me), and kept calm throughout what should’ve been a very stressful seven days.
Even if it makes you cringe a bit at first, in a society where we constantly compare and berate ourselves, where’s the harm in being a bit kinder to the one person you can’t escape from?
What’s on your ‘Proud Of’ list this week?
